37 Weeks

1.  I am very uncomfortable.  The top of my belly aches with tightness.  I can't lift my left leg for some reason.  Sleep is a joke.  My 12 pound cat seems to think the belly shelf is his personal perch and keeps jumping on it no matter how many times I yelp in pain and push him away.  But I am thankful to be in this uncomfortable state.  I can't wait to finally be a mother.

2.  I have said F You to the weight watching.  I have managed to make it this far with only 18 pounds gained.  Which means today I bought 3 boxes of these.
Judge all you want.  Shake your finger at me for consuming empty calories.  I don't care.  I have 3 boxes of happiness.

3.  Today the Dr said I am 50% effaced and 1 centimeter dilated.  Which is great!  And it means I should make it to my baby shower on Sunday without problem.  Yay upon Yay's!  Then come Monday I'll be doing as much walking and raspberry leaf tea drinking I can force upon myself to bring on baby.

4.  Happy Valentines Day!  Dinner at the Schmankerl Stube (my favorite German restaurant) on Sunday with the boys was our V-day celebration.  So today I'm cooking dinner and a dessert of some kind for the hubby.  Speaking of dessert - take a look at the deliciousness that is the Schmankerl Stube raspberry cake.  It's their special dessert for Valentines weekend, the only time you can get it.  And it is delicious!

  1. 1. "I can't wait to finally be a mother." I am both extremely excited about the pending birth for obvious reasons and rolling on the floor laughing that you - who mocked children in shopping stores and said "get it off the tv" when they graced the boob tube - have come to a mental state you swore you never would. ;) Naku Penda.

    2. Screw the opinions of others, you've done extremely well and a little sweetness in the end isn't going to hurt a damn thing.

    3. I must admit to being a little jealous that you are 50% effaced and a little dilated. It took 12 hours of pitocin induced labor for me to get 1cm dilated and 22 hours of labor for me to wind up with a c/s. *sigh* I am going to be quizzing you about what vaginal birth feels like, be prepared.

  2. 1. I know! Believe me, I know! It took me a while (like 27 years) to like and want kids, but I did get there!

    2. :) I'm eating a package right now.

    3. Ugh. I'm so sorry that happened to you. I wish I could remember my SIL story with her first. All I remember is she was in labor for forever before she just couldn't take it anymore and had a c-section. I don't think she even got to the point she was close to pushing. Her labor just stalled out on her as Claire showed her stubborn personality for the first time.

  3. I'm excited that you will probably go through labor sans-surgery. I mean, what you do isn't important overall, but I feel like once you do it and tell me about it I can let go of my disappointment. (Not that this is about me, of course... :D)

  4. LOL @ "3 boxes of happiness"! I'm so jealous you've only gained 18 lbs! When I went to the doctor last week, I think I was up to like 27-28 lbs. Good luck to you!!
