Now that he's wanting to self feed, and I'm not willing to spot bot my dining room floor every day, this works for us. Puff on spoon, wild look in baby's eyes, see if the spoon gets to the mouth with the puff still on it.
Of course, that is assuming he cooperates and doesn't just try to cut out the middle man.
